A record 20.87 lakh registrations have been received for medical entrance exam NEET-UG this year, including nearly 12 lakh female candidates, according to officials.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is the largest entrance exam in the country, followed by CUET-UG.

According to registration statistics, 20.87 lakh candidates have applied for the crucial exam, over 2.57 lakh more than last year.

The gender gap too breached the two lakh-mark with 11.8 lakh female candidates registering, which is 2.8 lakh more than male candidates. The number of male candidates is 9.02 lakh.

The exam will be held on May 7.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification over the medium of question paper in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2023 exam. NTA said that candidates who opted for English will be provided with a test booklet in English only, while those who opted for Hindi would be provided with a bilingual test booklet in English as well as Hindi.

Meanwhile, students who opt for regional languages will be given a bilingual test booklet in the selected regional language as well as in English. “The booklet will contain English and Hindi paper in white colour and the Regional Language in Yellow Colour, Urdu will be available in green colour,” reads the official notice.

Along with the clarification, NTA has also released a list of specific exam centres for regional languages. Check the list below:

Candidates who have opted for English as their preferred language while applying for NEET 2023 will be provided test booklets in English only.

However, those who have opted for Hindi as medium of instructions will be provided a bilingual test booklet in English and Hindi.

Those opting for regional languages will receive test booklets containing questions in English and the regional language selected by the candidates.

NEET 2023 booklet containing English and Hindi papers will be in white colour and regional languages will be in yellow colour. Urdu will be available in green colour, NTA said.

NEET 2023 will be held in 13 languages, of which 11 are regional languages. English as a medium of instructions will be available in all exam centres. English and Hindi will be available in all exam centres of India and English and regional languages will be available in particular regions only.

NEET 2023 is scheduled for May 7. Admit cards and exam city information slips will be released on neet.nta.nic.in.
